For over 20 years, serial entrepreneur and music executive Mat Thomas has successfully leveraged a refreshing outsider perspective, and deployed bold business solutions, to fortify the music industry in unsteady times. Throughout his two-decade journey, Thomas has traversed roles as a music manager, promoter, live event producer, marketing guru, and music tech business innovator. Now, as the CEO & Founder of Live Media Labs, Thomas introduces the ConcertPass™ app, the first mobile rewards and advertising platform for live events and concerts.
As a manager, Thomas has represented artists and producers with over 23M albums sold, including Rakim, Pras (The Fugees), Richard Joo (Billy Joel), Karsh Kale, Sloth and many more. He was also the CEO and founder of an innovative management firm that used strategic marketing campaigns linking artist with household brand clients. In the realm of concert promotion, Thomas created and promoted largescale concert series of national acts with venue capacities up to and over 10,000 attendees.
Thomas’s work in experiential marketing includes creating and managing onlocation branding and music marketing campaigns for large and varied group of international companies such as Delta, Cadillac, Dodge, Heineken, Edrington Spirits, Red Bull, Eventbrite and Vitamin Water to name a few. Thomas has also worked as an events producer, producing high profile events at Sundance, the MTV Video Music Awards, SXSW, CMJ, Toronto Film Festival, Advertising Week, among many others.
Additionally, Thomas has founded, consulted, and guided many entrepreneurial enterprises, including tech startups, venture capital groups, independent music companies, and non-profit charity groups such as the Human Rights Action Center.
Thomas has been a featured speaker at SXSW, CMJ, Canadian Music Week, Microsoft, and other notable conference about the intersection of technology, advertising and the music industry.
