For two decades, Joey Horvitz has used his business savvy and creative vision to position himself on the leading edge of entertainment. He utilizes his extensive experience in development, production, distribution and marketing to find, develop and maintain success in his current ventures. From co-founding Cutting Edge Entertainment, a full service, Los Angeles-based film production and international distribution company, in 1993, to then founding Contagious Entertainment in 2003, a film production company focusing on online and mobile markets, Horvitz is an entrepreneur with vision into the entertainment industry and beyond. Also a founding partner of Geek Nation, he was integral in building the company's infrastructure from the ground up.
Currently Horvitz is Senior Vice President of Short Films at The Weinstein Company (TWC). He is responsible for the award-winning Lexus Short Films initiative, which is going into its fourth season. Horvitz guides the process from start to finish, beginning with the selection of each season’s filmmakers all the way through to producing each of the final films, ushering them through the film festival circuit and packaging them for various distribution deals across many platforms. Films from the Lexus Short Films' campaign have competed in almost a hundred major film festivals securing many wins and garnering millions of views online.
